Sex Pistols frontman sued for assaulting assistant

John Lydon, or Johnny Rotten as the Sex Pistols frontman is more commonly known, has always had an authority issue, after all the anarchist within him sparked the iconic punk movement, back in the ’70s. His latest mischief, however, is of a more serious manner. It seems Lydon, as reported by TMZ.com, has been sued for physical aggression, by his former assistant Roxane Davis. The lawsuit, filled at the Los Angeles County Superior Court, claims…

Stream the new Coldplay album, like legaly!

As most of you probably know this already, or not, the new Coldplay album, Viva la Vida and All His Friends, leaked out yesterday over every torrent. However, knowing all our readers are law biding citizens *cough, cough* , we decided it would only be fair to share the full album stream for the album and, of course, it’s all legal! Just head over to IHeartMusic and enjoy the ride; if you’re from outside the…

Happy 1st birthday to ZME Music! (contest: win a free iPod nano, book, T-shirt, CDs etc)

Indeed, times flies when you’re having fun and let me tell you, it’s been one hell of a ride so far. Just one year ago I was having a beer with Andrei, when we both got the idea to materialize our passion for music somehow; writing, then, seemed the simplest way in doing just that, so, shortly after that, on a sunny June afternoon ZME Music was born. So here we are, exactly one year…

Download: Shearwater – ‘Leviathan, Bound’

Shearwater is on our top list of featured artists for this week, after the band has just released its fifth studio release, Rook. For today we’ve got something special for our readers, as Shearwater’s record label Matador were kind enough to release the mp3 format, for what I like to consider Rook’s standout track, “Leviathan, Bound.’ The song is a real chiller, with delicate, robust and melancholic melody and lyrics, that’s sure to sooth even…

New Raconteurs video: ‘Many Shades of Black’ / ‘Old Enough’ (live on Conan O’Brien)

I’m a bit late with this, but I’ve just found out that The Raconteurs were featured on Conan O’Brien’s Late Night Show, where they performed two live songs, from their April surprise record Consolers of the Lonely. To be more specific the band unleashed a vole of roots-rock upon National TV first with the infectious rocker “Many Shades of Black,” which was then soon followed by the fiddle-boosted “Old Enough.” All in all the band…

New insights on the new Mastodon album: it’s gonna be a ‘Creepy’ ride

I’ve been really psyched about the new Mastodon album, especially after I’ve talked a bit about how the band’s hit the studios this week, with producer Brendan O’Brien. Since then I’ve been listening to Mastodon everyday, doing a re-run of their catalog from Remission, to Leviathan, to their last gem Blood Mountain. So you can imagine how the anticipation is building up for me and the thousands of other Mastodon fans around the world. Anyway…

Josh Groban – Awake Live CD/DVD

We’ve written about Josh Groban before, about what would become Amazon best-seller Noel. I thought I knew him – I honestly did! But then, he did something to completely change my mind about him as a man: he appeared in this hilarious video (NSFW), along with Silverman, Kimmel, Damon, Affleck and many more. Now, after watching Awake, I had to change my mind about him as a musician too. Filmed in 2007 in Salt Lake…

Slash comments getting “snubbed” by Dr. Pepper

In case you haven’t already found out about how Slash got snubbed by Dr. Pepper as part of the drink manufacturer’s recent “Chinese Democracy” promotion, I’m gonna give you a little heads up just so you know what I’m talking about. Dr. Pepper has vowed to give everyone in the U.S. a free can of the drink if Guns N’ Roses’ long-awaited new album, “Chinese Democracy”, is released this year. Everyone, that is, apart from…
