What does Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tommy Morello and Presidential candidate Barrack Obama have in common? Well according to Tommy the similarities between them are quite striking…

“Well, you know, being the half-Kenyan Harvard graduate from Illinois in his early forties, not running for president this year’s election gives me a unique perspective,” Morello tells Rolling Stone’s Austin Scaggs. “I’ve always felt more comfortable on the other side of the barbed wire fence, you know, lobbing musical Molotov cocktails at the party.”

“If America elects a black president it will be a different country than the one I’ve seen my entire life and that would be a step definitely in the right direction,” Morello added.

Politics does go to well with RATM, I mean leave it to Zach to spit out a few lyrics and you’ll know what I mean, so what’s with this recent, political orientated mindset? ” I don’t think it has anything to do with rebelling against a President. It has to do with policy. The Democratic Congress was elected in 2006 to end the war and they rolled over like lap dogs,” Completes Morello the above quote, almost knowing how we feel. So, Mr. Morello, any predictions?

“In the next presidential election America will get the president it deserves. If after eight years of Bush’s foreign and domestic crimes that we elect a Republican president, you know, it seems to me like you should be able to run a barnyard animal against a Republican and win in a ninety-ten split,” Morello says. “So if America elects McCain over, you know, the clearly intelligent, erudite, fair-minded Barack Obama, then either way we’ll get the President we deserve.”

At last month’s Bonnaroo fest, the hip-hop/indie sensation M.I.A. stormed the stage and delivered a dazzling performance to all the fans and occasional blokes in the audience alike. However, after such an awesome spectacle (and during it a few time, if you think about it) she said this was her last show and she’d quit music.  I thought this was rubbish at first, seeing how she’s such a promising artist, however rumors that she’d quit music to concentrate more on her upcoming clothes line seem more veridical, especially after the ‘trailer’ for the line on her website, something about “The Real Pirates of the Caribbean”. That’s right ladies and gents, the (probably) most expected album of the year has been officially named. After many many controversies and other stuff I’ll barely mention here (they first said it will be released in February then delayed it for September, then Dave Grohl wrote them an open letter, and many other things) they finally set the name for their new album.

Wat’s it called? Death Magnetic. When I first heard this, I had the same face I would have had if I’d have seen Paris Hilton trying to play an Ibanez guitar. First of all, after all this time spent thinking and working on the best name, coming up with something like this is not quite the best thing you can do. Why?

Well, first of all, it resembles former guitarist, rock legend and overall bad ass Dave Mustaine’s band: Megadeth. I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but they sound somewhat similar. While I do think it sounds better than Magnetic Death, I just think it’s not good. It doesn’t sound bad ass, except if you’re a freaked out chick or under 14; just using the word ‘death’ in your album name is not quite heavy dudes. Their previous albums were like a metaphor, this is like a straight out phrase.

Anyway, maybe I’m just a bit stressed out, ’cause I really hope it will be something big and it will just rock; after all, the name is not really that important. I really have faith in them, ’cause after all, if Metallica can’t do it, who can

Well it’s been a while since we said something about Radiohead, but they’re back. Meet the most impressive band of the past year, the guys who came back from nothing - and guess what; now, they’re probably also the gloomiest band of the planet.

The breakthrough for Radiohead on ‘Reckoner’ a song that underwent multiple incarnations on its way to ‘In Rainbows’ came by way of what Jonny Greenwood calls a “big percussion fest.” I’m not sure if he’s right or not, but it’s definitely the way to go for a comeback album. Recording at an old English country house, all five members make a loud, catchy, ear drumming high school type of rock that sounds better than ever.

“And I’m happy to say that success hasn’t changed us at all,” joked Jonny Greenwood, who would rather leave the percussion to Phil Selway’s drums and Thom Yorke’s rhythm guitar.

After self releasing the pay-how-much-you-want ‘In Ranbows’, Radiohead became a synonym of innovation. Oh, and it’s also made them really richer. But they deserve it - for all of us who just love their music. Also, it seems they love it too.

“We still sometimes get overawed by the songs,” said Greenwood. “We’ll get very attached to a song as an idea in its very basic form, but we also know we can’t really leave it like that. So that’s what we spend our time talking about and planning and thinking about. Thom will sit and play ‘Pyramid Song’ on piano, for example, and it’s obviously not finished. It needs a rhythm to propel it along. But what do you do with it and yet not mess it up? So that’s the sort of enjoyable pressure we like to be under.”
