Led Zeppelin discography goes digital

Heavy Metal forefathers Led Zeppelin step up their game and properly enters the 21st century, by officially announcing that their entire musical catalog will be available digital as well, starting November 13th. All online retailers (eMusic, iTunes, etc) will offer the band’s full albums or a la carte downloads on that respective date.
This will happen simultaneously with the release of the band’s best of double CDs retrospective Mothership, which will come out in the same day. Also to make the digital transcendence complete, the band will issue full mp3s, ringtones, ringback tones, alert tones and wallpapers for your mobile phone, via Verizon Wireless.
”The addition of the digital option will better enable fans to obtain our music in whichever manner that they prefer,” Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page says in a statement.
This comes right on the heels of the recent Led reunion announcement, that is set to occur on November 26, at the O2 Arena London, commemorating their long time record manager in a one time gig.

It’s great to see more bands leaving the old RIAA pressed-CDs business model and adopting the online sales of albums and individual songs.
I really enjoy reading this site, BTW.

Well Led’s a bit different as this is the first time they’ll use a different record distribution method, other then CDs. Almost all of the mediocre bands have tracks and records listed on iTunes, it would be foolish for them not expose themselves more. This is not selling out, as many would say; you can’t stay in the dark ages forever. Still waiting for Beatles iTunes catalog, I’m sure that’ll happen soon enough as well.
