karmadillo

This was a slightly different affair to the usual Karmadillo gig that fans from their hometown are used to; comedic front man Rishi had promised a complete set of brand new songs on the run up to this and as a result The Baker’s was rammed with people wanting to be the first to hear them. As he stepped up to the microphone in his signature waist coat, clutching his little charango you could almost feel the anticipation in the air. Joining Rishi tonight were the usual suspects the enigmatic James Jameson on bass, who seems to look slightly more like a young Richard Dreyfuss with each gig, and Juliette Jones on Drums.

Rishi’s reputation for weird and wonderful lyrics such as those featured in Rent Boy and What Happens to Porn Stars always leaves you wondering where he’s going to go next lyrically and he didn’t disappoint with the new material. Highlights of the set included The More I Love You The More I Hate My Job and Facebook Makes It Easy. You could tell the band was having fun on stage and that seemed to be reflected in the audience reaction. This was a great live set, and despite being completely new, it went down really well with the audience who were soon tapping their feet, bobbing their heads and laughing at Rishi’s usual between song banter that’s become synonymous with Karmadillo’s live performance, it seems they can’t put a foot wrong. If you want to check these guys out head to www.Karmdillo.org where they’ve got a whole host of April gigs coming up.
