Kanye Omari West (pron.: /ËkÉËnjeɪ/; born June 8, 1977)[3] is an American recording artist, record producer, film director and fashion designer from Chicago, Illinois. West first rose to fame as a producer for Roc-A-Fella Records, where he eventually achieved recognition for his work on Jay-Z's 2001 album The Blueprint, as well as hit singles for musical artists including Alicia Keys, Ludacris, and Janet Jackson. His style of production originally used high-pitched vocal samples from soul songs incorporated with his own drums and instruments. However, subsequent productions saw him broadening his musical palette and expressing influences encompassing '70s R&B, baroque pop, trip hop, arena rock, folk, alternative, electronica, synthpop, and classical music.[4]
In honor of Kanye’s SNL performance tonight I’ve listed my 50 favorite Kanye West songs, including features and collaborations. Because of short notice, only the top ten have descriptions. Enjoy and debate. 50. DJ Khaled Feat. Kanye West, Consequence and John Legend – Grammy Family Grammy Family 49. John Legend feat. Kanye West – Number [...]
Holy hell, has it been quite a six-day run for new music. New tracks from Soundgarden, Torche and Yeezy all came out since the middle of last week. First up, the reunited grunge gods Soundgarden put out a single from the forthcoming Avengers Assemble album (the soundtrack to the Avengers film) called “Live to Rise.” [...]
So, for all the shit that I’ve given Nickelback over the years, apparently it has been warranted – at least a little bit. A blog calling itself Tastebuds.fm has named the Canadian rockers the “number one musical turnoff.” Tastebuds, a similar site to Last.fm, did their research thusly: Each user was allowed to specify up [...]
The Tedeschi Trucks band rolled their tour into Boston on a perfect 75 degree evening. The sunset over Boston highlighted the evening with a beautiful array of colors that made the night just that much nicer. When Susan Tedeschi walked onto stage with her husband Derek Trucks not far behind, the entire venue cheered them [...]
The two biggest (and, honestly, most important) names in rap come together to brag. A lot. As has always been the case, Kanye has some great lines (“Luxury rap, the Hermes of verses/ Sophisticated ignorance, write my curses in cursive”) and Jay-Z has some better ones (“Cocaine seats, All white like I got the whole [...]
Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi prove marriage and some great friends can put together an incredible album . Before the upcoming Boston show on August 17th at the Bank of America Pavilion, I asked Susan and Derek a few questions and this is what they had to say about it: ZME: With the soon [...]

To be exact, it was two days ago (Tuesday, January 11) and it’s called “H.A.M.” The single is taken from the forthcoming album he made with Jay-Z called Watch The Throne, due out sometime in March. Oh, and he (originally) released it on the official Facebook page for the album. I kid you not. In [...]
Kanye‘s fifth studio album in six years, “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy”, will be due at the end of next month, and as always the graduate always knows how to create controversy and flame spirits. Whether releasing tracks for free on his blog/twitter or making some of the most monstrous television appearances, Kanye is at [...]
I never thought Kanye West and Bon Iver can be pronounced together in a sentence, let alone a song. Seems like discrepancies and unlikely collaborations make up for a unexpectedly solid track – Lost in The World, a Kanye West production that heavily samples Justin Vernon’s 2008 eery autotune Woods. Yeah, you probably expected something [...]
