The pioneering dance-rock stars, [tag]The B-52’s[/tag], are set to explode once again on the scene, with their first studio album in sixteen years, set for a March 25 release date, titled “Funplex.” Thus, the influential band, who bridged a gap between punk and new wave with a sound that was uniquely their own, along with producer Steve Osborne (New Order, Happy Mondays, Doves, KT Tunstall) have created a new album, that intendeds to be as cutting edge, distinctive and danceable as their self-titled debut album and hit single “Rock Lobster” were in 1979.

The punk quartet of [tag]Against Me![/tag] just released the video, for their latest single “Stop,” just in time for the US elections, as they remind us to “stop, take some time to think, figure out what’s important.” Solid advice guys, that’s something we should all do more often. As for the video, it features the Florida new wavers chilling on the couch, as their alter egos play on TV; the black and white effects do well to reminisce Nirvana’s In Bloom, minus the screaming girls and geekish cloths.

Indie rave trio [tag]Klaxons[/tag] have managed to win the British annual 2007 Mercury Prize, for their revolutionary debut album “Myths of the Near Future“. The competition was far from easy, with such contenders as: [tag]Amy Winehouse[/tag]’s “Back to Black“, [tag]Arctic Monkeys[/tag]’s “Favourite Worst Nightmare“, [tag]Dizzee Rascal[/tag]’s “Maths + English” and loads of other great brit bands. The award came as a complete surprise for the Klaxons, as they were ravished by emotions, bursting in tears, before triumphantly taking over the stage by storm. Upon receiving the award the band said:
“This really is too much! It means so much to us. A year ago we were in a studio watching the Arctic Monkeys on TV and thinking we need to make a great album. The Mercurys is about pushing music forward and we think that’s what we did with this album .”

In a apparent very sincere and from the heart press release, The Cure band members announced that they were forced to postpone their October/November US tour to spring time, due to schedueling issues, that intertwine with the groups studio project. They said:
“The schedule as it stands only gives us a couple of weeks to finish our new double album before we hit the road again, and we know this just isn’t enough time to complete the project to our total satisfaction.”
They officially apologized to their fans, if the announcement had caused upset to anyone and promise they’ll be in the US like never before, with a whole new set of songs. Those of you who already bought tickets can rest assure, as they’re valid for the re-schedule; if you’re not happy witht he re-schedule you can order a refund. If the April/May US tour is horribly to far for you, then you can see The Cure live a little early in San Francisco at Download Festival October 6th, or if you’re Spanish isn’t to bad you can cross the border and catch them at their 3 days Sports Palace Mexico City shows.

[tag]Klaxons[/tag] frontman Jamie Reynolds broke his foot last night, at a gig in Angoulême, France’s Garden Nef Party festival, after performing a stage dive. He explains on the band’s MySpace that he “drastically misjudged” the 12 feet distance between the stage and the grass and dived with a higher velocity then he expected, leading to a fractured tibia bone and a three-inch plate holding it in place.
Reynolds: “As per usual I jumped from the stage on the final song of the set so as [to] get that little closer, only this time I’d drastically misjudged the … distance between the stage and the grass and landed with a larger than expected velocity on my right foot.
The doctors say that if I spend the next two weeks with the foot elevated then there is a chance of a recovery without further complications but the result is that we’ve had to cancel next week’s Australian tour until some point in the future.
A big apology to all those who’ve bought tickets for the gigs and just to say how gutted we are to be missing out on this trip.”

[tag]Depeche Mode[/tag] frontman Dave Gahan has signed a record deal with Mute Records, for his follow up to his first solo album Paper Monsters.
His second album, dubbed Hourglass, is set to be released in late October (exact date will be announced soon). The recordings were held in Dave’s own studio 1th Floor Studios in New York, with the help of Christian Eigner (drums) and Andrew Phillpott (bass and guitars), members of Depeche Mode’s touring band.
Also dave said that this will be a more eletronic-sounding record then Paper Monsters.
You’ve heard it right folks, [tag]No Doubt[/tag] is ready, after a 6 years period since their last album “Rock Steady”, to begin work on their sixth studio release. The lead vocalist of the group however, [tag]Gwen Stefani[/tag], will be touring through out the whole summer and fall, thus she won’t be able to join her fellow colleagues on the set. Drummer Adrian Young had this to add:
“The three of us are going to lay down some songs with music only,” said Adrian. “When she gets done with the tour we’ll all be there to do it. We’ve probably got four albums worth of ideas demoed.”
No Doubt promises that their future record will be like nothing they’ve played before, with a unique sound and with songs “are all over the place stylistically”. The band has been inactive for over 3 years now, during this time Gwen has released 2 big hit albums and traveled the world on tours, now that’s i call an active artist! Anyway, there is no further info on the upcoming No Doubt release, so let’s just wait and see.
