Queens of the Stone Age let their fans pick the setlist at tiny London gig

‘Let’s turn this shit up until it blows the fuck up,’ Josh Homme tells the crowd at London’s Rough Trade East

Some 200 people were lucky enough to hear Josh Homme and the boys hit an intimate gig at London’s Rough Trade East; they were treated to a mixture of classic songs and stuff from their new album, ‘…Like Clockwork’, which is currently enjoying the band’s highest ever UK chart placing at Number Two.

They hit the stage at about 10 pm, being classily introduced by Matt Berry, who said:

“It gives me enormous pleasure and a hard-on like a hammer to introduce to you, some very good friends of mine and I’m sure yours as well, the Queens Of The Stone Age!”

After that, a shave-headed Josh Home tore it up:

“Goddamn it, how the fuck are you, London? You look fucking fantastic,” before powering into ‘My God Is The Sun’. Cranking up the volume to way beyond the regular levels of an in-store gig, he then quipped: “Let’s turn this shit up until it blows the fuck up.”

But what really made it awesome was that after they played a few songs, Josh Homme turned to the audience and took requests from the crowd, putting himself at the bay of fans’ whim.

Queens Of The Stone Age played:

‘My God Is The Sun’
‘Monsters In The Parasol’
‘Make It Witchu’
‘Smooth Sailing’
‘Go With The Flow’
‘Burn The Witch’
‘I Stood By The Ocean’
‘I Appear Missing’
