Trailer for the new John Lennon biopic released

“Nowhere Boy” is the most recent movie in the wave of deceased artist biopics that have been produced in the past few years – this time it’s all about John Lennon. This isn’t  a movie that goes behind the curtains of his Beatles days, however. Instead, it’s a chronicle of childhood and troubled teenaged years that eventually shaped him into one of the world’s greatest songwriters to ever have lived. The movie sounds very interesting,…

New Age video: ‘Loosing Feeling’

Now, who would’ve thought that New Age are actually …mhh, weremice? Oh, and unlike the stereotype of werewolves on a moon light rampage you’ve encountered in books and movies so far, the band shed their furry skin and morph on nights packed with dusk-till-dawn lo-fi parties. At least, this is how New Age have been portrayed in their latest video for “Loosing Feeling”, off their latest EP of the same title. Cheese? Please! BONUS: [MP3] …

New Ape School video: ‘Wail to God’

I’m really failing, at the moment, trying to understand Anthony Schepperd’s directorial vision in Ape School’s latest video for “Wail To God.” I’m certain of one thing, though: it’s awesome! I mean, how can you go wrong when you mix in apes, violence, robots and MOUNTAINS OF BOOBS all together? You can’t, I tell you. [via Buzz Grinder] “Wail to God” Music Video from Anthony Schepperd on Vimeo.

Watch St. Vincent perform ‘Marrow’ @ ACL

Looking back at 2009, with only a few couple of weeks left in the year, I can now safely say it was a great year for music, and one of the first albums to come to mind justifying just this would be St. Vincent’s “Actor.” It’s serene and crazy, soft and loud, and just about everything in between, allowing for an eclectic experience that should suit almost anyone with an open mind. All of these…

Stone Temple Pilots set to release a new album and tour in 2010

They’ve had their fair share of difficulties, to say the least that is, but according to the band’s frontman, Scott Weiland, Stone Temple Pilots will be touring a great deal in the following year, to complete an upcoming new album. Apparently, the tour will stretch across the whole year, with short breaks in between. Most probably the first leg of the tour will run for a short period of time, before breaking into the post-album…

New Weezer video: ‘(If You’re Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To’ + tour

Weezerville is a peaceful little town, packed with really pleasant, although a bit loud, town’s folk. However, when a charming, beautiful woman enters the scenery things take a dramatic turn. That’s showing her, uh, guys?! This is how, in a nutshell, the latest Weezer video unfolds, soundtracked by the pure pop anthem (If You’re Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To. Oh, there’s a midget too, somewhere. You can never go wrong…

Contest: Win Wolfmother album, poster and T-shirt

I’m sure I’ve mentioned at least a couple thousand times before how stoked I am about Wolfmother’s sophomore release. For the last week or so, Wolfmother’s new album, “Cosmic Egg”, has been streaming in its entirety down at the band’s myspace, and, so far, there hasn’t been a day in which I’m not heavily streaming at least once. It’s a really great album, although I’m not going to go as far as saying it’s better…

New The Decemberists: ‘The Rake’s Song’

I simply loved this stunning animated video for The Decemberists “The Rake’s Song” from the very first moment I hit play! It’s all very well put together, revealing a colorful winter landscape, packed with an usual feel good vibe and equally feel good dancing cardboard figurines.  The video was was created and directed in Moscow, by Alex Dashino and Varvara Volodina, two second year students studying Moving Image at Central Saint Martins College of Art…

2008: out of 115,000 albums only 110 mattered

Last week, the annual The Future of Music Coalition Policy Summit took place in Washington DC, making the US capitol the most densely populate place on Earth with  record industry people. Here, artists, entrepreneurs, record label officials, PR companies, tech enthusiasts, music critics and other diverse individuals with more or less tight ties to the music industry gathered to discuss how new media and the Internet have and will shape the scene.
