indie pop

Indie pop is a genre of alternative rock music that originated in the United Kingdom in the mid-1980s, with its roots in Scottish post-punk bands on the Postcard Records label in the early '80s (Josef K and Orange Juice) and the dominant UK independent band of the mid-'80s, The Smiths. Indie pop was inspired by punk's DIY ethic and related ideologies, and it generated a thriving fanzine, label, and club and gig circuit. Indie pop differs from indie rock to the extent that it is more melodic, less abrasive, and relatively angst-free.[1]

Matt and Kim’s new single “Let’s Go” is available now and is a mixture of their original indie pop summery beats and calming vocals. The ooh’s and ahh’s definitely make the track do what it does best; it makes you want to get into your car, drive, roll your windows down, and “not care”. Which [...]

Gonna Be Your Man In (Uniform) Motion

Anytime I receive a press release that labels a band “an extremely exciting arts collective [and] a perpetual multimedia art installation“, a tiny emergency klaxon in my brain – wedged somewhere between the hippocampus and the primary auditory cortex, so the sound is both unbearably loud and very memorable – goes off. The klaxon reminds [...]

A simple, maybe a little dumb question first: why did you call the band „Springfactory” ? A short description will do: "We saw a sign outside a factory that read ”Welcome to Springfactory” We just thought it could be a good name for a band. This was before we had even [...]"

Interview with tada tátà !

tada tátà is a special musical proiect from Sweden, more exactly from Umeå/Falun. They represent a set of electro pop and folk, with songs mostly played on guitars and Ukulele. Listen to it and you'll notice that it's like music for toys. I know, it sounds a bit childish and blurry - it's probably just their toy piano and glockenspiel toying with my mind. They sound in fact very great and their [...]
