Morrissey unveils ‘Greatest Hits’ tracklist and details

Few artists can release five ‘best of’ compilations and actually get away with it, but if you’re name is [tag]Morrissey[/tag] you’re not just ‘any artist’, as his latest and sixth compilation record “Greatest Hits” is set for a early February release. The best of mostly includes hits from his post ’00s albums, like “You Are the Quarry” or “Ringleader of the Tormentors,” some tunes from the ol’ Smith days and also two bran new tracks…

Foo Fighters: ‘Long Road To Ruin’ (alternate version)

I’ve always had loads of fun with [tag]Foo Fighters[/tag]’ videos, packed with a lot of humor, next to some hard rocking. The initial video for “Long Road To Ruin,” was no exception, managing to crack me up on each play. I guess there’s something about Dave Grohl, that make the Foos video magic and funny as hell. Anyway the fun train hasn’t stopped yet and a alternate version of the video was posted recently, this…

Xiu Xiu map spring tour

After becoming a four piece band once more, after Devin Hoff joined on bass in May, [tag]Xiu Xiu[/tag] are set to show the world, well just North America really, what the new lineup is capable of.  With that in mind the band has mapped a string of shows in the US and Canada, that can be viewed right after  the jump. The tour should prove to be a good chance to see how Xiu Xiu’s…

Radiohead announces North American tour

After releasing a set of European tour dates, now [tag]Radiohead[/tag] have sorta/kinda announced some North American locations, but no venues, no dates, just 22 mapped  US and Canadian cities. At least you know where to expect them. Meanwhile In Rainbows sits well on the #1 of the Billboard 200, with 122,00 units sold in it’s second week, after a more weak first week (timing didn’t help). Radiohead is set to perform the North American tour,…

New Nick Cave & TBS video: ‘Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!’

Here’s another opportunity to crack myself up, as [tag]Nick Cave[/tag]’s back with some new updates on “Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!” (just love the title) This time Nick and The Bad Seeds have released the video for this ‘epic’ song, that depicts the modern day interpolation of the biblical Lazarus resurrection. The video was directed by Iain Porsyth and Jane Pollard, check it out at the dig website (not digg). Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!, is out March 3,…

Music industry scrambles and regroups to make its last stand

There is a LOTR analogy here somewhere but just cannot put my finger on it. The year which just ended a week ago shook the music industry from its very foundation making the napster thing back in the 90s seem fun and games right now; and in a way this shift of power is linked to the entire global economy but that interests us less here. For the music industry the thing is when you’re…

New Goldfrapp video: ‘A&E’

It’s been just a few days since we posted [tag]Goldfrapp[/tag] acoustic pop ballad “A&E” stream, that we just enjoyed and made us anxious to hear the rest of the group’s upcoming album “Seventh Tree.” The video for “A&E” is quite beautiful and calming, in perfect harmony with the actual song and seeing as it’s been direct by Douglas Wilson, whom you might remember as the director for Bat For Lashes’ terrific video for What A…

Robin Black back in studio

The glam rock singer goes back in the studio with long-time collaborator and producer Moe Berg, working on material. His last show was with his eponymously-named band on Halloween of 2006. It seems he has been training six hours a day to become a bantam weight cage fighter, something that requires enormous dedication and a lifestyle change. That itself is something amazing but it seems he has found time to record music as well. “The…
