Happy day boys and girls! At last some facts and info about [tag]Weezer[/tag]’s upcoming sixth studio effort, have been revealed. That means that their forthcoming LP, suggestively titled Album Six (not very creative guys… ) has a release date, scheduled for  April 22, 2008.

“Weezer fans truly have something to look forward to,” gushed Weezer bassist Scott Shriner about the new Weezer album on the Weezer website. “The entire band has accomplished some of its most challenging goals as a group and as individuals. It’s all coming together on this album.” Happy, happy day!

The year of 2008, will definitely go down in history as a time of band reunions. Since the beginning of the year countless broken up bands have announced their reunion and in most cases a grand tour or fabouls LP to go with it. [tag]Van Halen[/tag], [tag]Led Zeppelin[/tag], [tag]The Police[/tag], [tag]Rage Against The Machine[/tag] are just a few big names reformed under a lineup or another. Now ending the series of shocking comebacks is the famous Irish alt super group My Bloody Valentine, ending years of rumors and speculations regarding them getting back together.

The big news broke up earlier today when The Daily Swarm reveals some details regarding a interview with Kevin Shields, set to air on a forthcoming episode of Vice’s vbs.tv program “Soft Focus,” in which the frontman confirms the reunion and talks about new album. Here’s a short excerpt from the 30 minute Kevin Shields interview, conducted by TV host Ian Svenonious, that is set to air on Monday, November 12.

The Foo’s are back with a reminiscent video, to the good ol’ days of “Everlong” or “Learn to Fly“, for a song that fails to deliver in many aspects, “Long Road To Ruin.” The video however does well to erase some of it’s since, thanks to it’s excellent Foo Fighterish humor and storyline, that makes the viewer concentrate on the video, then the actual song.

The video is centered around a fictional 70’s soap opera, titled “Long Road To Ruin,” in which a mustached Dave Grolton doesn’t seem to get along with the other cast. He cries … a lot. He’s madly in love with his colleague, played by Rashida Jones (The Office) who plays the sister of a retarded patient, but who seems to ignore him and looks at him just as a friend. He cries.To win her affection Mr. Grolton forms a uber rock band and eventually gets the girl, but looses her again in the mist of the celebrity. He cries. Chasing after her he loses control and dives into a seemingly endless cliff. He dies.

There’s always been a shroud of mystery around the iconic Detroid garage rock band [tag]White Stripes[/tag], as they’ve always kept a bit to themselves. Today’s no different, and to continue to the string of fan intrigue, that spans from illness to sex to photography, those Whites sure love to build up tension. Here’s what they’ve posted on their website and MySpace page, earlier today:

“The White Stripes have just filmed an exciting new video and recorded three never before heard original songs (with a special collaboration) and one unique new version of a song from their latest album Icky Thump.”

There’s no news at to when this, most likely, mini EP or video, for the unknown untitled song, will be released, as the men managing the Stripes haven’t leaked a single thing. However we’ll keep you posted, with the latest update.

2008 is set to be a wild and busy year for, the English icon [tag]Morrissey[/tag], as he recently revealed some pretty impressive plans for the forthcoming year. Among others, the Mozz wants to release two records and tour the world (again).

Speaking to Billboard yesterday, his manager  Merck Mercuriadis said that his top client will soon announce the label under which his ninth solo studio effort will be released. In a interview with BBC, a month back Morrisay said: “The plan is to make a new album after this tour. It’s absolutely written and completely ready.” He also estimated the album will be released sometime in September 2008. And that’s not all, a greatest hits collection with two new songs is also on tap for 2008.

Buffalo native trio, The Goo Goo Dolls are without a doubt one of the most iconic pop-rock bands of the ’80s and early ’90s, becoming, as time passed by, one of the most globally respected and loved songwriting forces in popular music history.

In Recent months, the Buffalo natives set the all-time record for the artist with the most Top 10 hits in Hot AC Radio (Adult Contemporary Music) ever with twelve. This past week, The Goo Goo Dolls have achieved even greater heights expanding their own record which now stands at 14 successive Top 10s adding singer/guitarist Johnny Rzeznik’s solo track, “I’m Still Here (Jim’s Theme)” from the Treasure Planet soundtrack and their current Goo Goo Dolls hit, “Before It’s Too Late (Sam and Mikaela’s Theme)” from Transformers soundtrack.

Last week, [tag]Radiohead[/tag] guitarist and songwriter Johnny Greenwood participated in a series of interviews, among other revealing the fact that the band intends to concentrate on touring, now that In Rainbows is out. It didn’t take long for the rumors to be confirmed, so yesterday the band’s publicist announced that a Radiohead tour is soon to follow in spring, while the band’s manager was kind enough to report some extra details on the matter:

“We plan to tour next year, starting in May through to probably the end of the year. With lots of holidays in that period,” says Bryce Edge of Courtyard Management, the firm that manages the band. “At the moment we are talking with our agents in North America and for the rest of the world, trying to get a schedule which works for the band and works financially,” he adds.

The legendary alt trio of Dinosaur Jr. are set to embark on a killer fall tour, brining their prehistoric hard rockin’ to the good people of contemporary USA. The band is set to play through out the months of November and December, so you better consider booking yourself a seat or buying a ticket for a show near you.

Most likely they’ll perform some of their classics like “Just Like Heaven” or “Start Choppin,” but don’t forget they’ve released a new album, the first in 10 years, at the start of the year, titled Beyond, so all you Dino Jr. hardcore fans should get the chance to listen the live version of the new songs. We’ve already shown our enthusiasm for [tag]Bloc Party[/tag]’s forthcoming EP Flux, in a previous post and as previously reported a video had to follow. And it did. The Ace Norton directed video, for this  Nu-Rave infused track, is quite a really fun and enjoyable one, featuring futuristic robots and monsters battling it out in a B Movie style metropolis. The only problem here is, that curently available on windows media player, so you’ll have to head over to NME and stream it.

Got up earlier then usual this morning, but the sudden lack of sleep has been complemented by the explosion of energy with which “In Rainbows” hit me. I received [tag]Radiohead[/tag]’s latest gem in my mailbox at around 6 AM, for a fair fee (??$), and was immediately hooked by the 10 track marvel. Although most of you received the album for free, it seems to come at a price: audio quality. “THE ALBUM WILL COME AS A 48.4MB ZIP FILE CONTAINING 10 X 160KBPS DRM FREE MP3s” - that’s what the official order email states. Although this may seem quite low for those of us who look for the best audio quality in our mp3s, It doesn’t spoils the magic of “In Rainbows” in any way. If you want to experience the LP in it’s true splendor, you may want to wait for the release of the disc box in December, or CD at the beginning of 2008.
