New Vampire Weekend Single, “Horchata”

Everyone’s favorite afro-pop indie band (ahem, this generation’s Talking Heads) has debuted their new single on their official website.  You can stream it or you can download it just by supplying an email address. The song isn’t any real departure from their eponymous debut, and, in fact, would fit rather well towards the end of it. The track’s bouncy nature, however, displays the band in a more forward-thinking manner, embracing the Remain In Light influences…

New Vampire Weekend video: ‘White Sky’ (live @ Late Night with Jimmy Fallon)

NYC’s new indie hope, Vampire Weekend, paid newly appointed Late Night anchorman Jimmy Fallon a visit last night, when the band played a brand new song called “White Song.” Although the band’s orchestra adopts a somewhat weird dressing code, the string section of the song makes it quite special, especially when put next to Ezra Koenig’s high pitched vocals. The song is scheduled to appear on VW’s upcoming new album, which has yet to receive…

Download: Vampired Weekend – ‘The Kids Don’t Stand a Chance’ (Chromeo remix)

Download: Vampire Weekend – ‘Everywhere’ (Fleetwood Mac cover)

Boys and girls, Vampire Weekend is back! No, chill, not with a new album, but a new MP3, in which the NY quartet masterfully cover Fleetwood Mac’s “Everywhere.” The song was recorded on a Australian Radio show and let me say they’ve done a terrific job, especially on the vocals department, where Ezra Koenig virtually made the cover stand out. The MP3 is bellow thanks to Pretty Much Amazing via P4K. [display_podcast]

New Music Monday: 28 January

This weeks seems to be the first “big one” of the year 2008, with a lot of excellent new releases from both experienced and new comer artists. The clear highlight is “The Bedlam in Goliath” by [tag]The Mars Volta[/tag], which is already shaping up as a contender for best album of the year. List nerds should bookmark this, so they don’t forget it at the end of the year. A pop icon of the ’80s…
