The trip-hop UK duo, of [tag]Morcheeba[/tag], are just a few weeks away from their highly anticipated new album, titled “Dive Deep,” release. With over 6 million albums, several tours behind their back and some of the most moving and instantly recognizable tunes throughout the nineties, Paul and Ross Godfrey are confident they’ve made a record that’s set to propell them back into the spotlight. Actually the Godfrey brothers consider Dive Deep as a “emotional blueprint” which has restored their faith in music.

For this sixth studio album however, the duo, formerly a trio with Skye Edwards as lead singer, have decided to scour the internet for vocal and songwriting collaborators, as well as collaborating with well established artists. So guests on Dive Deep range from established names such as acclaimed singer-songwriter Judie Tzuke, to relative newcomers Thomas Dybdahl from Norway, rapper Cool Calm Pete, and Manda, a French singer who contacted the Godfreys via Myspace, admitting it was her dream to sing with Morcheeba.

After releasing a set of European tour dates, now [tag]Radiohead[/tag] have sorta/kinda announced some North American locations, but no venues, no dates, just 22 mapped  US and Canadian cities. At least you know where to expect them. Meanwhile In Rainbows sits well on the #1 of the Billboard 200, with 122,00 units sold in it’s second week, after a more weak first week (timing didn’t help).

Radiohead is set to perform the North American tour, in two half-times, one before the Euro tour, scheduled to start on June 6, and the second after Euro leg ends on July 8. Ecology hasn’t been forgotten and the band has, more or less, made this a ‘green tour.’ With this in mind the UK rockers have been joined by the environmentalist group of Best Foot Forward to reduce their carbon emissions on this forthcoming tour. The guys even made a whole detailed report, in which they’ve laid down a lot of figures detailing their CO2 and energy consumption and even posted a article at their official blog Dead Air Space, in which they’ve suggested to the readers to:

Back in autumn we introduced you to [tag]Goldfrapp[/tag]’s new forthcoming forth album “Seventh Tree,” set for release on February 25. I gave it a few premature spins and can say that it sounds quite great, a bit different from what Alison Goldfrapp and the group that shares her last name used to perform in the past, but still retaining that mellow pop extravaganza, that made  the group so big. Seventh Tree’s first single is A & E, a quite and peaceful song, resonating with acoustics and Alison’s soothing voice, in contrast to  their previous trip-hop shattering beats. Anthony Gonzalez, more known under his electro moniker of M83, has always been a favorite of mine in terms of ambient electro music. His music is extremely refreshing and ecletic, plus his use of ambiental guitar kinda makes him fall into the shoegazing genre. “Saturdays = Youth“, is M83’s fifth studio album and promises to be his best yet, as it’s set to deliver the rich sonic textures for which M83 is well known –this time with a more focused approach to song structure and form. The first single from “Saturdays = Youth” will be “Graveyard Girl,” but today to please your ears we’ll stream “Couleurs,” a epic mix of percussions and electro synths. A while back [tag]Radiohead[/tag] announced, on their blog, that further copies of In Rainbows box set will not be produced (guess they’ll get pretty valuable in the future) and that the free download, of the digital In Rainbows, will stop as well, starting from 10 December 2008. Despite the fact they’ve put a bit of a cork on it, the band has decided to gracious with even more tour dates, two to be precise, as part of their much anticipated 2008 summer tour. The new dates are second shows in Dublin and Milan and a set at the Main Square Festival in Arras, France.

Mystery seems to be a [tag]Radiohead[/tag] trademark, from cryptic runes (those were fun though), to a sporadic out of the blue new album, to a basement gig footage and most recently details have surfaced of the band’s much anticipated 2008 tour. The dates for the summer European tour were announced yesterday and included some vague schedueling for Manchester, Dublin or Glasgow; at the time I didn’t know if this was intentionally put to confuse or just a scheduling problem from behalf of the management. Well I still don’t know the answer to that question, but what’s important is that the full and complete dates and venues were released to the public.

Without a doubt, the eccentric electro duo, [tag]Daft Punk[/tag] can be considered true pioneers and house music forefathers, gaining worldwide notoriety thanks to their provocative blend of progressive house, funk, electro, techno, and hip-hop styled breakbeat. Although Daft Punk is one of the best things to come out of a studio, they’re also a force to be reckoned with live as well, fact that the good people of Paris can easily relate to, as this summer the duo played live at the Bercy arena in front of over 20.000 people, unleashing hit after hit. It was truly a magical night for the lucky Parisians present at the show, some would say it to be a crime not to record it, but Daft Punk haven’t only caught on tape, they’ve released the live session under a new record: “Alive 2007“.

Earlier today the band’s management announced that the In Rainbows CD release date is set to be on December 31 in the UK, via XL Records, with which the band signed a publicezed agreement for distributing their latest record in CD version, outside North America. A few hours later this peculiar post got up, on the Radiohead official blog Dead Air Space:

That’s like in … 1 hour ? Whatever it is I think it can wait until tomorrow morning, I’m beat. I can speculate that they’re gonna confirmed the rumors saying they’ve signed a deal with ATO/Side One for releasing the In Rainbows CD in the US, allegedly on January 1st.

I eventually decided to stay up late and watch the whole Radiohead broadcast. To my surprise it was all worth it, as Thom Yorke’s “Harrowdown Hill” (from his solo record) mix and Radiohead’s rendition of [tag]Bjorke[/tag]’s classic “Unravel” did well to fill the gap, resulting from my lack of sleep. [tag]Radiohead[/tag]’s record label for the past 14 years Parlophone, in the spirit of their longstanding relationship, is set to release a ultimate Radiohead boxset containing all of the band’s previous six albums (the In Rainbows discbox will be distributed separably), plus their 2003 live album.

The seven-CD limited edition sets will comprise the band’s Parlophone albums “Pablo Honey” (1993), “The Bends” (1995), “OK Computer” (1997), “Kid A” (2000), “Amnesiac” (2001), “Hail to the Thief” (2003) and the live album “I Might Be Wrong” (2001). Purchasers will also have access to stream special footage.

Synthpop duo, [tag]Erasure[/tag], have teamed up with platinum awarded artists Cyndi Lauper once again, on “Early Bird” a bouncy electronic duet between Lauper and Andy Bell available on their recently released “Storm Chaser” EP. The whole song is centered across the two singing, accompanied by a wall of synth beats and a oh-uh-oh chorus, that brings back a sense of ’80s vibe to it. It’s a excellent listen for all you retro fans and provides a nice walk through memory lane.

The two previously joined forces to co-headline the True Colors tour this past summer, sharing stages with Margaret Cho and The Gossip among others. Erasure’s Storm Chaser EP hit stores through Mute October 2nd and features eight remix and single versions of recently released tracks in addition to “Early Bird.”
