Were pretty fun. Wasn’t able to watch the event live, because of the whole time frame and stuff, it was something like 4 AM here when the Oscars aired. But I somehow managed to refrain myself from finding out the winners, as I find the element of surprise to create suspense and I love suspense; anyway I watched a rerun of the Academy Awards, a few hours ago. My general impression was somewhat favorable, maybe not so because it was too spectacular and so on, but rather because I’ve been following the Oscars every year since I was like 9 and thus I’ve developed a special place for it in my heart. I’m not being very subjective, but nevertheless I think most of us can agree it was a decent show.

I can always count on John Travolta and Jack Nicholson to make me laugh, terribly. This year’s In Memorium segment was also particularly touching, mostly because a whole industry was ravaged a few weeks ago, by the death of one of Hollywood’s most promising actors: Heath Ledger. The Coen brothers reigned supreme at the Oscars, picking up awards for Best Picture and Best Directors for No Country for Old Men. Daniel Day-Lewis won Best Actor and Marion Cotillard won Best Actress. Let’s turn our heads to the musical part of the event for a moment though, after all this is a music blog…

As previously reported, Green Day was set to do a punkified version of the famous theme song for one of the most popular TV shows of all time: “The Simpsons”. The The Simpsons soundtrack was released yesterday, containing 15 tracks mastered and “baked” by orchestral composer Hans Zimmer, whom you may remember as the man who made the O.S.T for such movies as Gladiator, Pirates Of The Caribbean, Rain Man and a lot more. The [tag]Green Day[/tag] cover of Danny Elfman’s classic was released as a single, yesterday, in the form of 25,000 pink doughnut limited edition cases, which you can buy at your local Best Buy, Circuit City, Wal-Mart and Barnes & Noble.

The dudes down at Pretty Much Amazing, managed to sample a bit from the 1:23 Green Day cover, after listening it as part of a KROQ radio show. The track sounds pretty cool, but somewhat boring, the rest of the show however is hilarious, you can listen to a direct conversation between the KROQ crew and almost all the important characters from the Simpsons, from Apu to Barney to ultimately Homer.

A big chunk of my childhood was influenced by the popular TV series Transformers, i can’t imagine my early years without the colossus fights between the Autobots lead by the nobil Optimus Prime and the evil Decepticons lead by it’s mastermind Megatron.

When i first heard that there was a live action movie based on the animated series i used to watch as a kid, my first thoughs were of skepticisms. I’ve been disappointed before by the adaptations of Marvel comics in the movie world, Spirderman, Punisher, Fantastic Four disillusioned me even more.

Anyway let’s stay on topic, after all this is a music blog, not a movie blog, so the reason why i brought all this Transformer talk is that i’ve learned that it’s soundtrack will be released on July 3, 2007, 2 weeks after it’s theater debute. The O.S.T. of Transformers was composed by the grand master Steve Jablonsky, with it’s main theme being performed by the electro-rock band [tag]Mute Math[/tag]. I ran into the new electrofied Transformers theme down at Mute Math myspace profile page and it rocked. What do you think, is it any good?
