Morrissey live on the Late Night Show, 2 nights in a row

Out furiously promoting his latest Greatest Hits compilation, the revered Morrissey dropped off on the Late Night Show with Craig Ferguson, both yesterday and the day before that. That’s twice in a row. Talk about a groundhog day. There, he played “All You Need Is Me” and “Irish Blood, English Heart.” ~All You Need Is Me – 28/04/08 ~ Irish Blood, English Heart – 29/04/08

Radiohead cancel tour because of global warming

Watch out people, it’s hypocrisy time! At least that’s what my spider sense tells me. When I first read that Radiohead were going green, I thought it’s great stuff. When I read further what going green means for them… my jaw dropped like Britney Spears’ image. They’ve decided not to travel to the US for a promotional performance because of concerns over global warming. Sure, that will really work for their blinded fans and screaming…

R.I.P. Albert Hofmann

Yesterday was truly a sad day for people all around the world, when Dr. Albert Hofmann, better known as the father of LSD, died at the age of 102. Dr. Albert synthesised lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) in 1938 and became the first person in the world to experience a full-blown acid trip. A moment of silence for the man, who’s brain child, made possible works of art from the likes of Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd,…

New Scarlett Johansson video: ‘Falling Down’ (Tom Waits cover)

Scarlett’s musical debut is right around the corner, in the form of the Tom Waits cover songs exclusive “Anywhere I Lay Head.” Bellow you can check out the video for Falling Down, the first track from the upcoming album, set to get out on May 20th. In it we can follow Scarlett through her daily life as she gets lost in transition (what subtletly). Although I have a now notoriously huge crush on her, I…

NIN back to ‘discipline’ us with a new single

Yesterday night Trent released a new single over the airwaves and interwebs, titled “Discipline.” This comes just barely a month after his NIN released their most recent LP, the instrumental Ghosts. I’m a bit confused by Trent’s new strategy of releasing mass music, seeing how the band’s members are free agents, free from any label restrictions, this shouldn’t be a problem, but too much can really be too much. This can  most obviously be seen…

New Radiohead video: ‘House of Cards’ (live on Conan O’Brien)

A bit late on Earth Day, Brits Radiohead made a remote live performance from their recording studio in London, yesterday night, for Conan O’Brien’s Late Night Show in NY. The band played a masterful live take of “House of Cards” off In Rainbows and once again endorsed green activities. Oh and Thom called G. Bush a twat on national TV. As a side note the band made their TV network national debut on the Late…

Metallica, record store dinosaurs?

A few days ago, on the 19th of April, people all over the world celebrated Record Store Day. Hey, people’ve made up more peculiar holidays then this one, so why not? Anyway on the 19th, Metallica, the “metal dinosaurs,” as James Hetfield referred to the group, made a brief appearance at Rasputins, an independent music outlet store on the West Coast. Here the band made a few photos, signed some autographs and most importantly supported…

My Bloody Valentine back in the US after 16 years + Awesome ATP NY lineup

2007 was the year of reunions, but 2008 doesn’t fall too much behind neither, with more and more previously iconic acts getting back together. One of these acts is also the shoegazing pioneers My Bloody Valentine, a true sensation of the late ’80s. Back in November, frontman Kevin Shields, announced the band’s reforming and moreover fueled rumors that a new LP is in the making. Soon after fans were ecstatic to find out the band…
