Download: Diplo - ‘Brew Barrymore’
Fri, Jun 20, 2008

Here’s a treat for the blog’s electro fans, seeing as we haven’t posted anything about one of my favorite Dj’s, Diplo, for a while. Last weekend he went by The Roots picnic, somewhere in Philly, where among other massive tunes, he mixed in a new track, punned over Ronnie Foster’s 1972 classic Mystic Brew, thoughtfully named “Brew Barrymore.” Ronnie’s soulful, jazzy sound hasn’t faded one bit in Diplo’re remix, seeing how the sexy, funky organs and Ronnie’s sanctioned lyrics (”I like ‘em brown, yellow, puerto rican and hatian”) are ever-present. Masterfully served, sir. Via Mad Decent.
