New Music Monday: July 20

Quite remarkable how the brother/sister duo The Fiery Furnaces has managed to put out, almost effortlessly, a lot interesting releases, to say the least, in such a short time span (a good album a year is something to admire these days). “I’m Going Away” is the band’s latest, eighth full length studio release, and gets out this week, with The Fiery Furnaces shining once again, in their strange, odd-like way.
Another interesting release that’s out this week and I’d also like to recommend is the new material from Rx Bandits, the not so famous, but terribly talented Californians. Their new album is called “Mandala” and from its first spin I could tell this is definitely a winner. I’m not at all familiar with their past work, but Mandala is an incredible intense experience – one, that won me over as a future fan. “The Satanic Satanist” by the Alaskan quartet Portugal. The Man is yet another revelation, an album with an impeccable songwriting and flawless production that’s sure to please the dire hard fans, while also converting some lucky one-time listeners.
Other new music that’s well worth checking out this week includes new stuff from the likes of Ian Hunter, Magnolia Electric Co., Jordin Sparks or Sugar Ray among others.
