Wilco set to begin recording on new album next month

WilcoWord has it Wilco are getting their groove on and will hit the studio next month to start recording a follow-up to last year’s excellent “Sky BLue Sky.” According to Billboard, the band hopes to get the new album ready for a spring release via Nonesuch.

In a recent intereview, frontman Jeff Tweedy said this time around the band will take their time and will try to put out something really well produced and “allow ourselves a little bit more leeway in terms of sculpting the sound in the studio and doing overdubs and using the studio as another instrument. Last time around, it was more of a document.” said Jeff.

I hope this doesn’t mean we’ll have a over-produced, impossible to play live at full potential album on our hands. The band hasn’t failed to deliver so far, so I’m not worrier, so, I guess, neither should you.

Wilco will take a break from the studio at the end of the year for nine dates supporting Neil Young, beginning Nov. 29 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and wrapping Dec. 15 at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

Impossible to play live?! Do you have any idea what this band is capable of live? If they can recreate and improve upon every detail of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and Summerteeth I don’t see any new material posing a problem.
