New Memory Cassette video: ‘Surfin/Body in the Water’

Lo-fi, cushy keyboards and a sturdy Mac make Memory Cassette’s sweet computer pop shine. What happens, though, when you soundrack MC over a vintage semi obscure ’80s movie scenary? Well, for one you get the new video for “Surfin/Body in the Water” directed by Pat Vamos, whom we last saw in action in another vintage video for the dreammy summer jam Sun Was High (So Was I). More Tawny Kitaen, I say! [via GorillavsBear] SURFIN’/BODY…

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you The Crooked Vultures!

As previously reported, the raddest supergroup to have graced the rock scene in years, namely Them Crooked Vultures, hit Chicago’s Metro this Sunday, rocking the sweaty 1,000+ privileged crowd in hall. How was the band’s debut? Considering it came as an aftershow for the three day Lollapalooza fest that went on this weekend, by all accounts that surfaced (see twitter) it was a simply marvelous experience – hands down the best show from the Lollapalooza…

Grammys Can’t Headbang

Yes, this column is months and months late. Get over it. I wasn’t writing for ZME in February and, more importantly, I have a valid point to make. So here we go. The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences doesn’t know shit about music. The Grammy Awards used to mean something and were actually worth paying attention to. I don’t know when the award’s value began its downward trend. Perhaps it was when Album…

New Arctic Monkeys video: ‘Crying Lightning’ (live @ Late Night with Jimmy Fallon)

Check out the performance bellow or, for better quality, here. “Humbug” is out August 24th.
