6 great grunge bands you would have never found out about [w/ bonus]

Screaming trees

The band

Screaming trees were a significant part of the grunge movement, adding a little hard rock psychedelic funk to it. The 3 founding members (Lanegan and the Conner brothers) were bonded by their similar musical tastes, which led to them joining drummer Mark Pickerel to found Screaming trees. They did receive some critical acclaim from the very beginning, which led to some major labels trying to sign deals with them, which they passed at first, for their first two albums, but for the third, they signed with Epic. The result was a more mainstream album, which carried on to be their last, despite teaming with Josh Homme as rhythm guitarist.

The legacy

The band split up specifically because they couldn’t produce anything good after Dust. Mark Lanegan did record an album that was received very well, but there’s really just a handful of bands that have Screaming Trees ad their influences.
