Post filled in: Alternative Rock, Feature, News

Doubtlessly, the first thought that comes to mind when you hear the ethereal sounds of a Sigur Rós song is, “Ooh, that’s pretty - I wish I had some current events to digest as I listen.” Or, perhaps you find yourself reading the newspaper, scared witless thanks to the apocalyptic forecasts of war, disease and global warming, and find yourself in need of some floatingly beautiful, orchestral Icelandic rock to soothe your frayed nerves.
More likely, you’re just a casual fan of Sigur Rós - maybe you heard them on an ad for football or something - and want to check out their music on the cheap. So lucky for you, British broadsheet The Independent is offering up a sort of low-key “Sigur Rós’ Greatest Hits” package for free with January 31st’s Saturday edition.
Entitled “We Play Endlessly”, the CD takes nine songs from across the band’s career. It follows in the music-with-newspaper footsteps of trailblazing artists like Prince and… um… cheeky pop-muffins McFly. The tracklisting is such:
1 - Hoppípolla
2 - Inní mér syngur vitleysingur
3 - Saeglópur
4 - Gobbledigook
5 - Í Gær
6 - Fljótavík
7 - Hafsól
8 - Heysátan
9 - Ti Ki
