Hey, kids! Let’s have some fun coloring The Beatles (1964)

While I was shamelessly burning my workplace’s broadband on youtube, forums and reddit I stumbled across this hilarious Beatles coloring book from way back in 1964. It features the fab four in various scenes, like Paul brushing his teeth, Ringo showing up his bling, George tripping like hell or the whole band enjoying some tea, before commencing into storming groupies. So, grab your crayons kids and start filling ’em up! Click above for a laaaaarger…

New Basement Jaxx video: ‘Scars’

Well, you know me, I can’t resist a bucket of random. Basement Jaxx’s video for the electro duo’s latest single “Scars,” like most BJ visual contraptions from along the year,  is packed with weird loops of plants, chameleons, flying flowers and really menacing looking stuff. The CGI was rendered and directed by Dutch artist Jan Van Nuenen. Off the duo’s recently released full length studio album “Scars” out now via XL.

Baroness: ‘Blue Record’

Album name: Blue Record Artist name: Baroness Genre: Sludge Metal Released: October 13, 2009 Label: Relapse ZME Rating: 9/10 Website: myspace.com/yourbaroness Red and blue are  interesting colors. They are two of the three “addictive primary colors,” the third being green. Red, generally signifying anger in modern culture, is assuredly addictive in American society: road rage, “You lie!,” talk radio, you get it. It would make sense, then, that Savannah quartet Baroness would name an album…

New Music Monday: 12 October

Looks like it’s that time of the year when various holiday albums and compilations start to pop-out, much to the contempt of last minute present shoppers, retailers and record labels. This week alone, we’ve got new Christmas albums from Bob Dylan, David Archuleta and Connie Talbot coming out. Hot Streaming: Thom Yorke, Grizzly Bear, Lykke Li, Bon Iver, St. Vincent from the New Moon soundtrack

We’ve raved a lot over what an awesome compilation the soundtrack for the upcoming teen-vampire-in-love New Moon flick will make. Today, however, we can finally sample the O.S.T. and settle once and far all if the hype is justified or not. The soundtrack itself is yet to have been released, but, like it usually happens, it got leaked all over the internet recently and Youtube is packed with streams. I’ve added bellow some streams that…

Al Byrne’s Radio Bile

Soft rock really gets something of a raw deal these days. Mention in a conversation that you like soft rock (in an unironic way, rather than a “sings along to Journey’s ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ after a couple of drinks at a wedding” way… c’mon, keep up) and you may as well have told that person that you’re partial to licking their grandmother – you’re now a social pariah, and you’d best get used to it….
