Guitar God Les Paul ascends to a better realm

Yesterday was a sad, sad day for music. Electric guitar virtuoso and inventor Les Paul died, at the epic age of 94. It was him who you can call the father of the solid body electric guitar, as well as multitrack recording. His blazing riffs were absolutely the bomb and he performed with some of the biggest stars ever, also produced a lot of hits, but it was the inventions that made him the revered…

New Beck video: ‘Gamma Ray’ (2nd version)

Back at this last summer’s dawn, we posted a blog post about, what was then, Beck’s first single and video off his most recent album, Modern Guilt, single called Gamma Ray. Apparently, the reminiscing neopshychedelia of the video was only a warm-up for this second version, just recently released, featuring Chloë Sevigny with some heavy make-up, the usual trippy effects, bonded together with a series of overall random stuff. Beck – Gamma Ray

New Beck video: ‘Gamma Ray’

So far, I’m really digging Beck’s new Danger Mouse produced album, “Modern Guilt”, already well passing the 8th or 9th listen (who’s keeping track, eh?). Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised when I checked my inbox today, to find an e-mail from Beck’s official, notifying me of his latest video, for the first single off Modern Guilt, “Gamma Ray.” When made a synopsis of the song, when we first talked about it, along with “Orphans,” another…

New Music Monday: 8 July

I haven’t completed the feature for the last 2 weeks, because both me and Andrei have been kept busy with some nasty exams, fact which could be clearly seen by the lack of activity on the blog. We’re both finished with them (we’ve passed, thank you!) and from now on we’ll get back to our normal schedule. Anyway, to start off the week we’ve got two great artists. First up is [tag]Beck[/tag] with his latest…

Two new Beck songs: stream ‘Orphans’ and ‘Gamma Ray’

[tag]Beck[/tag] and his upcoming new album, “Modern Guilt,” is just a few weeks days away from its release date, and of course the teasers and leaks couldn’t stop either. This time, after Beck previously previewed the first single from the new album, the psychedelic “Chemtrails”, the ’60s revivalist artist, much to the delight of his dedicated fans, has just streamed another two tracks from Modern Guilt. First the electro-gaze infused, Beach Boys harmony packed “Orphans,”…

New Beck Stream: ‘Chemtrails’

Things are more and more shaping up like Beck is gonna release his upcoming Danger Mouse produced album, “Modern Guilt,” in a Raconteresque, out of the blue manner, as the singer/songwriter recently unveiled his first single off the album (or is it the second?), the haunting, psychedelic-like “Chemtrails.” Our colleagues from Rolling Stone, after a short preview, said the album channels British rock of the 1960s and upon our first listen of Chemtrails we could…

Beck, Wilco, Devendra Banhart expand the Outside Lands lineup

Last month we were thrilled to announce a three band long lineup of the new west coast San Francisco Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival. The band announced were  Radiohead, Tom Petty, and Jack Johnson. Solid headliners indeed, but not quite enough for a three day long festival. Thus Beck, Wilco, Widespread Panic and Devendra Banhart lead the new additions to the lineup, as the San Fracisco guest lists gets expanded with over 20 acts,…

White Stripes enlist Beck for B-sides + Jack the bullfighter

Last week the [tag]White Stripes[/tag] mad a mystery press release on their website, announcing that they’ll be releasing a few brand new tracks, a secret collaboration with a big artist and a new music video. Well I have to admit that the whole thing’s been bugging me this week, but luckily before I had any chance to deviate into paranoia, the Whites reveled their secrets. Firstly the mystery collaborator is none other then uber producer…
