ZME Science posts about Deerhunter
Last night Conan’s eccentric show, which featured the host wearing ladies’ jeggings and the three Kardashian sisters on the same couch, which is three too many, was topped by a sharp performance of Deerhunter’s “Helicopter” off the band’s latest full length effort, the recently released “Halcyon Digest“. This was Deerhunter’s first national TV appearance and [...]
One of 2010′s best albums is without a doubt Deerhunter‘s Halcyon Digest, a record which excites senses and triggers soulful introspection. My favorite track off the LP is “Helicopter” and below you can see the visuals which transfigure the sound in the official video. It’s been out for two months now, but only after repeated [...]
Deerhunter‘s forth full length studio album will be out next Tuesday, September 28th on 4AD. Until its release date, you’ll be able to stream the whole album in its entirety via NPR.org on the stream below. I’ve played it twice so far and I find it to be incredibly atmospheric and well textured. Moody, hazy [...]
Off the band’s upcoming highly anticipated new album, “Halcyon Digest“, Deerhunter‘s new 7″ single “Revival” is available as of today for free download on the album’s mini-site – enter password tapereel. A few weeks ago fans were instructed to print and paste up posters with the new album in the home towns, and in return [...]
Here’s another reason to subscribe to Bradford Cox’s blog, as he just posted the latest installment to his virtual 7″ series, released under the Atlas Sound moniker, that features a great cover of the Five Discs‘ late ’50s jam “Doctor” and a brand new song on the flip called “The Screens“. Speaking of which, The [...]
Buddyhead just recently caught up with the Deerhunter/Atlas Sound frontman Brandford Cox and made this … let’s say insightful interview. Don’t threat guys, he’s not robotripping, he’s just got some sort of weird ass flu (swine flu maybe?!). The dude’s still very much insane though! The interview peaks at well over 20 mins, but it’s [...]
Last year, in August, we had a veritable indie soap-opera on our hands, after Brandon Cox, also known under the moniker of Atlas Sound, had an early version of his latest album “Logos” leaked all over the internet. Some harsh words were thrown out then, and even the thought of giving up on Logos all [...]
This year’s Microcastle by Deerhunter was really beautiful from multiple points of view. I was really impressed by it, and considering I’m not a very big fan of the artsy genre, that says a lot. “Cover Me (Slowly)” and the title track, “Microcastle,” are two of my favorite tracks of the record – the first, [...]
We’ve had a real indie soap-opera this weekend, with the whole Deerhunter/Atlas Sound records leakage. The whole event was categorized like a big ol’ publicity stunt by the media, fans and even labels, but Bradford (Atlas Sound) gives indications that that’s certainly not the case. Furthermore he posted a really lengthy apology down at his [...]
Props to Bradford Cox (Atlas Sound) of Deerhunter, again. The man seems to write songs as often as I change socks, which is not often enough, apparently. Anyway, he just released another “7 virtual vinyl (No. 4) over at his blog. Here I found a little gem of song, called “Holiday.” The song’s far from [...]
