Looking back at 2009, with only a few couple of weeks left in the year, I can now safely say it was a great year for music, and one of the first albums to come to mind justifying just this would be St. Vincent’s “Actor.” It’s serene and crazy, soft and loud, and just about [...]
We’ve raved a lot over what an awesome compilation the soundtrack for the upcoming teen-vampire-in-love New Moon flick will make. Today, however, we can finally sample the O.S.T. and settle once and far all if the hype is justified or not. The soundtrack itself is yet to have been released, but, like it usually happens, [...]
It seems like my bitching was heard or something (start a blog too, people. Who knows who might hear your whining and do something about it. Just kidding - don’t mind me). Either way, a few months ago I was feeling a bit dishearten about the straightforward approach St. Vincent received for her video of [...]
Check out this incredibly chill acoustic set by Annie Clark (St. Vincent) in which she plays “Actor Out of Work” and “The Strangers” for the fine folks down at Grandcrew.com. It’s just Annie (and the dude with the camera), her guitar, a pair of sun glasses, clean air and beautifully warm ultraviolets. Lounge!
On 09/09/09 the remastered catalog of the Fab’ Four will finally see the light of day after 22 years of analog sole existence. Abey Road engineers have been working for the last four years, combining the latest cutting edge technology with vintage equipment, to preserve “the authenticity and integrity of the original analogue recordings” and [...]
People, you can’t possibly miss this! Two of my favorite indie artists, Annie Clark, more known after her stage moniker St. Vincent, and the mellow Andrew Bird will be touring together this summer and autumn in most of North America. Both are exquisite live performers and I can only imagine what it must feel like [...]
We praised a lot Annie Clark’s new album, “Actor,” in these past weeks, but who can honestly say she doesn’t deserve the hype ? Today, we’ve got a new Annie Clark track for your ear’s delight, the melancholic B-Side on the LP “Bicycle.” From the first verse you can tell it’s a deeply Annie-centered song [...]
St. Vincent is releasing her sophomore album, “Actor,” this week and, from the looks of it, it already announces itself as being one of 09’s best. One of the most prolific singer/songwriters of our time, Cat Stevens, is releasing a new album this week as well, under his muslim name Yusuf Islam, dubbed “Roadsinger.” Another [...]
Annie Clark certainly never would have thought her video for “Actor Out Of Work” would get such a straightforward treatment, but when you watch front to back, you can then see beyond its fragile appearance.
In the video, Ian Kibbey and Corey Creasey, the two directors of the video, visioned the song’s vibe as ideal for [...]
Let me break it to you folks, Annie Clark is one talented soul! The Tulsa, Oklahoma native multi-instrumentalist dazzled everyone with her incredible musical talents, both vocal and instrumental-wise. Quite remarkable how she can handle the role of an one person band, often engulfing the sound of entire orchestras in her tracks.
Her 2007 debut, “Marry [...]
