Last year’s “Intimacy” didn’t really cut it for me, being way too blunt and really unattractive by all means. Not even the following remix version didn’t manage to deliver something positive, although I usually find remixes to work well on more modest releases. Surprisingly, something like a week ago, the band premiered a new single, right out of the blue, called “One More Chance” – a catchy song with a lot of hooks and bouncy…
New Rye Rye ft. M.I.A. video: ‘Bang’
Rye Rye’s latest collaboration with M.I.A. is the explosive single “Bang,” a thrilling roller coaster ride of a song. The video isn’t any lower either, featuring non-stop amazing dancing, with some moves sure to twist some heads (check out the finale moves!). Rye Rye’s debut album is yet to be released, but if the material it’s packing is half as good as Bang and Tic Toc, we’re in for an ace LP.
Andrew Bird and St. Vincent up for joint North American tour
People, you can’t possibly miss this! Two of my favorite indie artists, Annie Clark, more known after her stage moniker St. Vincent, and the mellow Andrew Bird will be touring together this summer and autumn in most of North America. Both are exquisite live performers and I can only imagine what it must feel like seeing them both play on the same stage in the same night *rants because there aren’t no European dates. Dates…
New Dirty Projectors video: ‘Stillness is the Move’
“Bitte Orca,” the latest album from behalf of one of New York’s most talented experimentalists Dirty Projectors, is without a doubt in this year’s top 10 albums so far, and “Stillness is the Move” is simply a jewel of a single. The beat, the vocals, the lyrics, everything sounds just delightful – a true treat for the ears. The video directed by Matthew Lessner, how bizarre it may seem at first glance, is equally as…
2 brilliant videos for ‘Sun Was High (So Was I)’
I just recently stumbled upon this brilliant song that will most certainly be part of my summer tracklist, the beautifully lazy “Sun Was High (So Was I)” by Bethany Cosentino aka Best Coast. This is definitely a stoner anthem, fit for any beach house get to together, sea side stroll or, of course, torch lighting. The song’s only been live for a week or so, and already there are two fan videos live (great cult…
New The Mars Volta video: ‘Since We’ve Been Wrong’
Not your typical Mars Volta video, seeing how it’s all fairly simple, featuring altering shots with the band playing their latest single “Since We’ve Been Wrong” in a studio, while being streamed on an old TV tube with a vintage feel. It’s quite appealing though, despite its simplicity. It has one of those reminiscent vibe wrapped around it, and does not either bore or kill your brain, unlike past TMV videos. Cedric’s afro is always…
Rest in Peace, Michael Jackson
Today my friends, is a sad day for music, because one of the biggest artists in the history of mankind has passed away, just when he had planned a comeback. Most, if not all of us danced in our home to one of his songs, we all looked up to him, and we all probably made fun of him when all the scandals were out. But today, we pay homage to the man who drove…
New Fever Ray video: ‘Triangle Walks’
I’ve just finished watching Karim’s latest video for the chilling “Triangle Walks,” that just premiered over at stereogum, at the end of which is hard for anyone not visually impaired not to sit back for a few good seconds and gasp “WOW!” The video just hits you from the very few frames – beautifully dark-blue lights, ambiental chills and Karim Andersson’s elusive appearances make it a creepy, yet, at the same time, a surreal experience….
Delta Spirit @ La Blogotheque: ‘People Turn Around’
I’m really a big fan of Vincent Moon and his La Blogotheque sessions. The spontaniety of the show, how you can watch your favorite indie band playing in the street, even with ‘house hold’ instruments, all from the confort of your own home is amazing for me. However, I nearly can’t believe it how a big of fool I’ve been for missing out Delta Spirit’s Blogotheque session, where the San Diego soulful musicians just killed…
ZME Contest: records, records, records!
We haven’t held a contest in a very, very long time, and yes, we know you’re probably feeling a bit neglected. That’s why, dear ZME reader, we’ve decided to organize this little competition for you – the first of many, as part of a regular series of contests we’ll be holding in the future. This particular give away if a of a broader significance, however. This month ZME Music turns two years old and it’s…
