A while back, we released the “Ex-guru” track, signer by the brother-sister act [tag]Fiery Furnaces[/tag], our for download. We told you that “the track opens up with a aggressive drum barrage and Jimmy Page like riffage, but which is soon followed by an assembly of flout, keys, and percussions, which together with Eleanor Friedberge’s dynamic and emotional vocals make it a must listen.” Our opinion remains the same, with a addition: their latest album Widow City is a gem and a must have for any garage rock revivalist fan.
The video, for the outlandish “Ex-guru,” features vocalist Eleanor Friedberge strolling along the coast line and taking a well deserved relaxing cruse, in pre-digital ’70s era. I just love how Moses Berkson, the director, managed to recreate the retro space and vibe of that both glamorous and turbulent period.
