Much like the metal category, hard rock is something that the NARAS doesn’t understand to any degree. Yes, it can sometimes -* sometimes* - pick the ‘right’ bands but its choices for songs is bizarre.
AC/DC, “WAR MACHINE”
Alice in Chains, “Check My Brain”
Linkin Park, “What I’ve Done”
Metallica, “The Unforgiven III”
Nickelback, “Burn it to the Ground”
OK, first [...]
Let’s face it, rock it’s not living its best years yet; what’s more, it seems fewer and fewer bands with legendary potential are appearing with every year that passes, and if such a band appears, the odds are it splits right after they make it big. The biggest concerts are still held by the likes [...]
While back, we talked a bit about this year’s RnR HoF and its nominees. Two of last years big names that got nominate for the ‘08 edition, Metallica and The Stooges, we’re also amongst the ‘09 nominees as well (of course neither got inducted in ‘08). Seems, though, Metallica hit the jackpot, sorta speak (since [...]
Communism, comets, moving dead zombie meat, nostalgic old school animations and so on. You know, the usual Manchurian candidate stuff that Metallica have oh so often used it as a motif - like on their latest video for “All Nightmare Long.”
Now if the song was on something like the Red Alert soundtrack, the video would’ve [...]

For those of you unaware, a lot of people over on the Interwebs issued a list of complaints about Metallica’s recent album, including stuff like low bass, distortions, louder recordings [...]
Well as we told you, Metallica leads this year’s group of nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, following last years inductees, and people are actually placing bets on who is going to win; as you could probably guess, almost all bets are directed towards the metal gods, despite the fact that they [...]
Sometime last year I was pretty pissed off that two world shattering bands like Metallica or The Stooges didn’t make the cut for 2008’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees list. That was a bit non-cool.
Anyway, it seems my lamentations were well heard and both bands, as well as Run-D.M.C., War, Wanda Jackson, Bobby [...]
The latest scandal in the rock scene erupted a few days ago, after it was shamefully discovered that the latest Metallica record, Death Magnetic, released just this Friday, sounds a lot, lot better on Guitar Hero 3, then on the actual CD. That’s what mastering engineer Ian Shepherd discovered when, on a tip from a [...]
