The 2008 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees

Post filled in: News

Yesterday, the nominees that have the honor of being inducted in next year’s Rock & Roll HOF were announced. Our of the 9 nominees, only 5 will make the cut; quoted with the best chances are [tag]Beastie Boys[/tag] and [tag]Madonna[/tag]. For a band to be nominated they had to release their first single before 1982, the year that Madonna’s “Everybody” and the Beasties’ punk EP Polly Wog Stew came out.
I have to say that I’m totally surprised acts like [tag]Metallica[/tag] or [tag]The Stooges [/tag] didn’t make the nominee list, instead less influential bands like John Mellencamp or The Dave Clark Five did. I’m beginning to wonder if the judges are a bit biased to say the least, but I’m sure they know best.
And the nominee are….
- Madonna
- Beastie Boys
- The Dave Clark Five
- Leonard Cohen
- Afrika Bambaataa
- John Mellencamp
- The Ventures
- Donna Summer
- Chic
