Yesterday, the nominees that have the honor of being inducted in next year’s Rock & Roll HOF were announced. Our of the 9 nominees, only 5 will make the cut; quoted with the best chances are Beastie Boys and Madonna. For a band to be nominated they had to release their first single before 1982, the year that Madonna’s “Everybody” and the Beasties’ punk EP Polly Wog Stew came out.
I have to say that I’m totally surprised acts like Metallica or The Stooges didn’t make the nominee list, instead less influential bands like John Mellencamp or The Dave Clark Five did. I’m beginning to wonder if the judges are a bit biased to say the least, but I’m sure they know best.
